Condensation

Condensation occurs when warm, moist air comes into contact with cooler surfaces, causing the moisture in the air to turn into liquid water. This phenomenon can manifest on windows, walls, and other surfaces, possibly leading to issues like mold growth and property damage.

Traditional Prevention Tips:

1. Maintain Indoor Temperature:

   - Keep the home at a consistent temperature. Rapid fluctuations can lead to condensation.

2. Ventilation:

   - Ensure proper airflow by opening windows or using exhaust fans, especially in high-moisture areas like kitchens and bathrooms.

3. Use Dehumidifiers:

   - Consider using a dehumidifier to reduce humidity levels, particularly in damp areas.

4. Seal Drafts:

   - Inspect windows and doors for drafts and seal them to prevent cold air from entering.

5. Avoid Drying Clothes Indoors:

   - If possible, dry clothes outside or use a tumble dryer to minimize excess moisture in the air.

6. Regular Heating:

   - Use heating consistently to keep the indoor air warm and capable of holding more moisture without condensing.

 Treatment for Existing Condensation:

1. Wipe Away Moisture:

   - Regularly wipe away any condensation from surfaces to prevent mold growth.

2. Improve Air Flow:

   - Rearrange furniture to allow airflow around walls and surfaces.

3. Use Anti-Mold Products:

   - Consider applying anti-mold sprays on affected areas, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

4. Fix Leaks:

   - Report any leaking pipes or roof issues to the appropriate parties immediately.

5. Consult Breathe Pure

   - If condensation remains a problem, consider installing a IW25-5 Wall Dehumidifier to constantly monitor and control the humidity level. Tenants should consult their property manager to discuss an assessment and solution with Breathe Pure.

By understanding condensation and taking these preventive measures, individuals can help maintain a healthy living environment and protect the property from potential damage.
